I think this is an adventure book, and I really enjoyed it.  I would not recormend the series  to children under 10.When I read these books it is like I am watching a film and please take my advice and turn the book series into a film series.

I have read these books, all three of these, and have to say that yes, they are not appropriate for younger children.  I had read the book five years ago, when I was around ten,  and I did not get nightmeres.  I, instead, had become interested in the Maya and their culture and gods.  It also helped with my immaginationa nd has become in insperation to me and my writings (as I am writing a book of vampires).  Like I had said before, these books are not that appropriate for younger children yet if you count 10 young,  I loved it.  These books are one of my favorite series and I wish Mr. Sebastian Rook would write more.

Read it yourself and you will see for yourself how good it is.

This book, along with the rest of the series, are great for preteen-teens and even some adults if they are interested in this kind of stuff. besides the action, theres romance, suspenceful, scary parts and so much more.people may say its to bloody, but its only mild and not much description of there wounds. its just enough to give this great story what it needs. i recomend this to anybody who loves frightning storys and likes to read good books!

Hey ;)
I just wanted to say that I recommend this book to everyone who like children books and also who likes reading about Vampires in general. My 13-year-old brother read the book not so long ago and he really liked it. I don't think that it's inappropriate for 13-years old to read it. After all there is much more blood and dark stuff in movies and young teens still watch them.

Hi, I would like to reccomend this book to the preteens to teens. This series is EXCELLENT! Its a nice horror, thriller that'll leave you hungry for the next book! I read this book in 2 days. It is a little inappropriate for young readers, but great for the olders. It'll leave you on the edge of your seats the whole time. You should definitly consider this book!

i read this book before my kids did and i cannot believe how dark and sinister these books are. These boooks are apt to give kids nightmares.I have seen other vampire books that are more positive than these and i will not allow my children to read them. I am very dissapointed in scholastic for even selling these books.

An ancient evil. A ritual gone wrong. The vampire plague is threatening like never before...

Jack wants to believe it is only a dream, that the vampires are gone, that they've been banished by an ancient ritual which sent their leader to the depths of hell. But he isn't so sure... Soon, Jack, along with his friend Benedict Cole (aka Ben), and Ben's older sister, Emily discover that the vampires are indeed not just in Jack's dreams. Can our heroes defeat the vampires once again and escape with their lives?

A little bit reminiscent of Lemony Snickett's A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Vampire Plagues trilogy finds our heroes losing their guardian just about every time they turn around. The difference is, in the Vampire Plagues, the youngsters are fighting a different type of evil. The middle book of this trilogy feels a lot like reading the middle third of a much longer book. There are plain references to the first volume, mostly incorporated in the first third or so of book 2 which don't help this volume stand alone very well.

Reading the Vampire Plagues trilogy should be an all or none proposition. If you read and liked the first installment, then by all means buy or borrow the second and then the third... this is an interesting story that should not have been broken up into a trilogy, but instead published as one longer novel.
