The day before Claidi's wedding, she is kidnapped and taken to a mountaintop palace in the shadow of an unearthly star. Wolf Star Rise is the stuff of nightmares, with rooms that change and move for no apparent reason. The only human there is Prince Venn. Neither Claidi nor Venn knows why they are at the Rise. Can the two escape from the maze of taboo, repression, and mystery surrounding both of their long-lost families?

Just when you thought a happy ending was in store, Claidi is (once again) kidnappedon her wedding day! She finds herself with some familiar (though not-so-friendly) people, as she is deposited in a far off, jungle-like place with a seemingly aloof prince and his servants. Driven close to the edge with anger and madness, Claidi finds herself in a palace with ever-shifting rooms, animals running rampant, and even more complex secrets to uncover. And worse of all, she is away from her beloved husband-to-be, Argul.
Will she be stuck in the maddening palace forever? Will she ever find out why she was brought there in the first place? Can she get back to Argul and the Hulta?
Tanith Lee continues her well-crafted adventure with twists, turns, surprises and action that keeps readers hooked! Poor Claidi seems to be struck with misfortunes over and over again, but she has grown much since the start of her mishaps-filled adventure!

This book was not as good as Wolf Tower, but it was still a good sequel. Claidi is stolen from her Argul on their Wedding day! She is dumped, by wolf tower men, at the Rise. There she meets the interesting Prince Ven, who has a mysterious resemblance to Argul! Unfortunatly most of the characters from the first book, including Argul, dont have much of a role.
