Briar's Book (Circle of Magic #4)
In Brairs Book, Briar and his teacher, Rosethorn, must battle a deadly unheard of disease. While helping others try to survive the horrible disease, Rosethorn catches it herself. Can Brair, Sandry, Daja, and Tris help her? Read this book to find out. Ithink Briars Book is the most unique of all in the Circle of Magic quartet. If you liked the Circle of Magic quartet than you should read The Circle Opens quartet by Tamora Pierce. It follows the four young mages as they find students of their own.
Circle of Magic chronicles the tale of four young mages. The last one is about the only boy in their circle, Briar. Briar is a thief turned respectable plant mage. However, he's soon about to get mixed up in street life again when his friend catches a deathly disease. As the epidemic spreads across the city Briar and his teacher, Rosethorn are forced into quarantine where they nursed the sick. The race to save lives is on.
Briar goes through emotional changes throughout the book that help make the character three dimensional and completely understandable. Tamora Pierce's writing flows along. This is a book that once you start you will want to finish right away.
This book is the final chapter in Pierce's Circle of Magic series. When Briar discovers a street urchin with a strange new disease, he is quick to notify his teacher, Rosethorn. The sickness, later dubbed the Blue Pox, begins to spread and soon becomes a widespread epidemic. As hundreds of people die, Briar must work together with Rosethorn and Dedicate Crane to find a cure for the new disease. When Rosethorn catches the sickness, Briar races against time, desperate to find a cure before his teacher dies.
By the time this book rolls around most of the characters have been fully developed enough to be able to explore the plot more fully. As a result this book focuses mostly on the supense of the race against time and on Briar's relationship with the usually aloof Rosethorn. This is by far the best of the series, it is worth it to read the other three just to get to this one. A true fantasy classic, don't miss out!
