Matter-of-fact Mary Ellen's firm belief that everything can be explained by scientific principles and methods is severely tested, after she breaks a mirror. Within a month, her best friend moves away, her fruit fly experiment accidentally infests the class tomato plants, and her little brother kills her pet fish with kindness. How will she survive seven years of this luck?
