The Diary of Chickabiddy Baby
I read this book many years ago, when I was about 11 or 12 years old, and I feel that it is time to reveal the young author as the fraud she is. Essentially, the book combines the plotlines of "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret," by Judy Blume, "Absolutely Normal Chaos" and "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech, and various other young adult books. Mixed with the stolen ideas of using the word "deity" every 3 sentences, being conflicted about religion, writing a summer diary, and having the nickname "chickabiddy", there is hardly any room left for original ideas. I guess the fact that the "author" was ten allowed the editors to fail to acknowledge the fact that the majority of this book is unoriginal and just plain plagiarism. I was offended, even as an 11 year old, that someone could be so presumptuous and fake. If you want to read fantastic books, look to any of the "influences" mentioned above, and don't read this fake.
I ABSALUTLY LOVED THIS BOOK! I AM USSUALLY A SLOW READER BUT I READ THIS BOOK IN 2 HOURS! I COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF IT! i also know what she is going through so it was nice to relate to her. I am in the 6th grade but 11 also.
All the twists and turns that Pru goes through keep you reading and it talks about things that all young girls think about- even if they think about it secretly like pru does.
this book is about pru brinker's summer. her 2best friends dont get along, her parents embarrase her, and she gets mysterious notes from a secret admirer.
