If You Go Down to the Woods Today (Brown Bear Wood)
My woodland’s full of animals,
of every different kind.
So shall we stay here for a while
and see what we can find?
Experience the everyday wonder of nature in this first book of poetry, exploring a magical woodland year. With poems by acclaimed writer Rachel Piercey, join Bear on his journey from spring to winter with lots of friends to meet, places to explore, and things to spot along the way.
The animal theme is cute and the illustration style fits the softness of the poems. The only thing I wish is that they had a picture of what you're supposed to find instead of words. It was a little hard trying to figure out what they wanted even for me. My four year old also couldn't read so I had to explain each item to find. Even though the reading level says four and up, I think it's better for older children who can read well.
Final Verdict: The color immediately catches your eye with the gold foil. This is a great activity book for older children to keep them occupied while also enjoying beautiful poems. Fans of animals and challenges will enjoy this one.
