Some of Levine's books are hard to follow especially with the big hit of Ella Enchanted. The Wish is an easy to read book and can be read by mostly everyone. The target audience is usually for younger readers but high school readers can also read this for fun. I still can't wait for another smash hit from Gail Carson Levine.
After helping an old lady at the subway, Wilma is granted 1 wish. Without thinking too much, she wishes that she was the most popular kid at her school, Claverford. But she later realizes that she is only weeks from graduating Claverford and moving onto a new school--meaning that her popularity will end. She tries to save her popularity, but learns what true friends are.
This was a cute modern-day fairytale and if you liked other books by Gail Carson Levine, you might like this one as well.
