Zoom: Dinosaur AdventureFeatured
Jasmine and Jamie journey back to the time of the dinosaurs. Die cut pages and one surprise pop-up make every page an interactive experience as you encounter a long-necked Alamosaurus with a big appetite, take a trip on a flying pterosaur, and come face to face with the fearsome T. Rex.
What I loved: This book tells a fun story of two friends exploring history together. The mishaps of accidentally sitting on some dinosaur eggs and napping on a blanket that turns out to be a pterosaur are sure to make children giggle. The book features a lot of die-cut peek-throughs that add to the joy of the book with a pop-up time machine and asteroid at the end. Full-page, brightly colored illustrations with lots of thoughtful details are included throughout.
I really appreciated that the dinosaurs are labeled, so parents don't have to guess when children ask about what the dinosaurs are called! There is a lot of diversity in the dinosaurs presented too, and some are ones I had not heard of before, which is really cool. The labels are a really important and helpful feature! The font of the story text is also bold, clear, and easy to read.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the pop-ups are a bit delicate and really easy for rough children to tear off (ours are already gone). Sensitive readers may also beware the asteroid lead-up, which shows the dinosaurs and kids running with (cartoon) fear.
Final verdict: With brightly colored illustrations, silly mishaps, and so many dinosaurs, ZOOM: DINOSAUR ADVENTURE is a thoughtfully designed peek-through board book that will delight young readers. Highly recommend for young toddlers through preschoolers.
