You Can Be a Farmer, Too!Featured
Emily loves helping on Uncle Benji's farm, but her little brother Noah isn't so sure. It's messy, loud, and the animals are . . . scary. But with the kindness of his big sister, Noah eventually gains the confidence to join in and help while having fun! Farms ARE wonderful, after all!
What I loved: With lots of exuberant language and fun rhymes, farm life basics come across in this delightful picture book. Noah and Emily brush the horse, feed the chicks, build a house for a mouse, and even quack twice like the ducks for good luck. The illustrations are full of color and really convey the story well. The themes of helping other people to try something new and overcoming fears in a safe way (plus sibling love) are really great for young readers. Before he knows it, Noah is happily becoming a farmer too!
The amount of text on most pages is light, making this a great choice for young readers, who will appreciate the detailed images combined with pages that can move quickly. The font is also nice and clear, making it easy to read aloud. The rhymes in the text roll of the tongue and add some extra auditory fun.
Final verdict: A charming story about trying something new, YOU CAN BE A FARMER, TOO! is a delightful read for young children who will love the rhyming text, cute animals, and all the fun of the farm.
