Off to See the SeaFeatured
Bath time is full of magic.
The faucet flows like a waterfall, the bathroom floor is a distant shore, toy boats sail against the waves. An imagination-fueled adventure on the high seas is just what it takes to get little one clean.
What I loved: The illustrations are really gorgeous with lots of fun colors and a magical feel that transports the reader into the imaginings of bathtime. The realistic-looking people are a definite draw for toddlers and preschoolers, who always love to look at photos. The text is relatively simple, making it an easy and quick read for young children. This also can help with children who are reluctant to take a bath, as it definitely brings a whole new sense of adventure and fun. The parent-child love are palpable throughout the book, and I love the way it all comes together.
What left me wanting more: As a really minor thing, there are some awkward phrases that can make it a little less smooth to read as the phrase length is varied and sometimes almost rhyming. It's a really small thing that just makes the reading aloud slightly hitch in places.
Final verdict: Inspiring a love of bathtime, OFF TO SEE THE SEA is a magical and imaginative adventure through all the fun of baths. This is a great read for toddlers and preschoolers who will enjoy the beautiful illustrations and magic story.
