I'M A ZCARY VAMPIRE is an overall cute picture book read that is great for the lead up to Halloween. Something very scary happened in Transylvania - or did it? A tiny vampire is trying to scare a young girl to pass his test so he can go to vampire school. If he fails, he will have to go to banana peeler school. Although the little girl laughs at his efforts, she ultimately helps him to create the scariest scare that has ever happened.

What I loved: This book is ridiculous fun. The story is silly and so are the faces and characters. Ultimately, it has some cute messages about making new friends and helping out others. There is a fun opportunity to talk with a fake vampire accent (with the z's vs. s's) that can make for some additional interest.

What left me wanting more: The book makes fun of the vampire's accent a bit with the little girl correcting him, and this is not great - we can understand him and plenty of people have accents, lisps, or stutters, and we don't need to make fun of them. He also cheats on his test in the end (the little girl fakes being scared), so I am not sure about the lessons on that either.

Final verdict: Silly fun, I'M A ZCARY VAMPIRE is a cute book about new friends that is great for Halloween-themed reading.
