A Wave of Stars (Nubeclassics)
Mimbi the seal and Kipo the turtle live carefree lives in the ocean, playing every day with their friends and listening to old tales the octopus tells at night. But one day…
Follow these two friends in this new beautiful and magical legend by the creators behind The Truly Brave Princesses, Dolores Brown and Sonja Wimmer.
They swim to the shore where they cry for missing their home and friends. Luckily, a fisherman named William finds them and brings them back to his house, where he gives them food and a bed for the night. William also knows how they might turn back into sea creatures and helps them on their journey.
What I loved: This is absolutely gorgeously illustrated. Each page features lovely images that are beautifully detailed and depict the story really well. This story reminds me of older fairytales with a little bit of fear and sadness in them, though it has a happy ending. This is a really unique story that holds magical appeal.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the font is printed rather small and a little hard to read from a distance.
Final verdict: A new fairytale ideal for elementary aged children, A WAVE OF STARS is an enchanting tale of magic with absolutely stunning illustrations. Highly recommend for children who appreciate stories like the original THE LITTLE MERMAID and other tales from Hans Christian Anderson.
