The Bedtime Book
It's nighttime but Mouse is not asleep. Mouse cannot find her bedtime book! Where could it be? And how can she possibly sleep without it?
Frank wants to help Mouse feel better, and so he comes up with a new plan that delights Mouse, and they go to sleep happily.
What I loved: This is a sweet picture book about friendship, solving mysteries, and sharing that will appeal to young readers. The storyline is very cute with a sequence that young children can follow, and a lot of new animal friends to meet along the way. Themes of sharing and kindness are sprinkled throughout the book. The illustrations are also very cute, with animals in color against the dark, nighttime background. This is a delightful bedtime read with a happy and satisfying ending, as suggested by the title.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, there are some pages with a dark background (such as a deep olive green for the grass) with the text printed in black. As this is a great bedtime book, it is noticeably difficult to read the dark font on dark background in low light. It is fine in well-light daylight though.
Final verdict: A charming book about friendship, kindness, and sharing, THE BEDTIME BOOK is a delightful read for young children, whether enjoyed at bedtime or during the day.
