When Spots, the ladybug, wants to play hide-and-seek but Beepo, the lightning bug insists that he will find Spots and all of his friends because they are so bright and spotted. Children will meet a variety of bugs and insects on the pages of this hide-and-seek book filled with fun die-cut pages!
What I loved: This is a clever way to introduce camouflage to young children. They can see how certain bugs blend into the backgrounds. There are also some fun cut-outs that add some extra interest to the book. The story is simple and cute, and the illustrations are whimsical with lots of fun images and pretty artwork. There is also a great final message about everyone coming together to help, as Spots calls all the ladybugs to help him hide.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, the text is rather small, making it a little more difficult to read aloud.
Final verdict: A cute book about camouflage amongst a hide-and-seek game, HIDE-AND-SEEK LADYBUGS is a clever read for preschoolers and older toddlers.
