HIDE-AND-SEEK LADYBUGS is a story about a group of ladybugs who accept a challenge to hide from Beepo, another type of bug. Spots and his friends, Dotty, Tiny, and Curly, head out to find good hiding spots. Spots's friends find places to hide by observing other animals and their camouflage. However, they cannot blend in with the leaves, twigs, or brown wall like the other buds can. Spots decides to come up with a smarter idea for hiding, where Beepo can't easily see him. Children can then find him on their own!

What I loved: This is a clever way to introduce camouflage to young children. They can see how certain bugs blend into the backgrounds. There are also some fun cut-outs that add some extra interest to the book. The story is simple and cute, and the illustrations are whimsical with lots of fun images and pretty artwork. There is also a great final message about everyone coming together to help, as Spots calls all the ladybugs to help him hide.

What left me wanting more: As a small point, the text is rather small, making it a little more difficult to read aloud.

Final verdict: A cute book about camouflage amongst a hide-and-seek game, HIDE-AND-SEEK LADYBUGS is a clever read for preschoolers and older toddlers.
