ZOOM: OCEAN ADVENTURE is a delightful nautical journey. Young children can follow along with Noah as he embarks on a big ocean adventure. Noah goes snorkeling in the coral reef, exploring a seagrass meadow, down to the deepest depths of the ocean, through a pirate shipwreck, and all the way over to the Antarctic Ocean. The book features a short sentence on each colorful page, accompanied by many cut-outs, labeled animals, and even a fun pop-up!

What I loved: This book is a pleasure to explore alongside little ones. There are so many different sea animals included, and they are even labeled- which is super-helpful for parents who may not know all these incredible creatures by sight. The book really explores the breadth of the ocean from coral reefs to the deepest black ocean floor. Toddlers will love finding creatures they recognize, such as penguins, sea otters, and dolphins alongside of those they may not know. The peek-through cut-outs are brilliantly done, with each cut-out showing something when turned to the left or right. They give extra pizzazz to this already colorful and delightful book.

Noah and his turtle lead the charge, and children will love following along with them on every page to see what they are doing. This book is a powerful spark for imagination, as children imagine joining Noah for his journey, exploring in a submarine, finding sunken treasure, escaping a great white shark, and more. The length of this book makes it perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, whose attention will certainly be captured by the many details on each page. The word-to-picture ratio is low to keep pages turning faster for younger toddlers, but can still manage to be engaging with all the animals and sea details to see for older preschoolers.

This book is full of charm throughout, and the surprise pop-up towards the end is a delight for toddlers. The pages with cut-outs are very sturdy and strong, and they will stand up to toddlers. The pop-up is a little more delicate, but still pretty sturdy (cardstock material that is attached really well), making it more difficult to tear. These touches are really key to having a book that can handle the wear-and-tear of little ones for the same amount of time as they will enjoy reading it. All the details in this book make it one that young readers will want to read repeatedly.

Final verdict: Charming, colorful, and educational, ZOOM: OCEAN ADVENTURE is a delightful journey through the ocean and the creatures who live there, perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Highly recommend for curious young readers to share with their caregivers.
