Lift the flaps to wake up the animals on the farm, and look out for the pop-up surprises! Join the noisy cockerel as he visits pigs, cows, and more on a beautiful morning on the farm, in this lovely interactive board book.

Children will delight in the collage-like illustrations of their favourite farmyard animals, by renowned artist Jonny Lambert, and will love joining in with the story as they visit characters one by one. The sturdy board-book format is perfect for little hands, and fun pop-ups under flaps will entertain children again and again.

WAKE UP, FARM! is a delightful pop-up, lift-the-flap book that brings the farm to young readers. Beginning with Rooster who wakes up and crows, he then goes around the farm to wake up the pig, cow, and sheep before going to get Farmer Jenny! With fantastic 3D pop-ups under flaps on each page, this book is perfect for the youngest readers to explore.

What I loved: The plot is simple and full of fun animal sounds that will very much appeal to the young toddler audience. The pop-ups are very cool with the animals really coming off the page. They are also made of a sturdy cardstock like paper that makes them fairly durable. The colors are beautiful and there are plenty of flowers and bright colors on each page which bring a lot of appeal. I also super-love that the book features a female farmer on a tractor- always great to see women in careers frequently shown with males. With the many animals and animal sounds plus the repetitive cock-a-doodle-doo, toddlers will adore turning the pages. Also, the flaps are very sturdy (and will hold up to the tougher toddlers) with a peekaboo style that has additional high appeal for the young age group.

What left me wanting more: As a minor point, if you have a rough toddler, some of the pop-ups are not very well attached, especially the pig with the mud splashing- an undeniably very cool and involved pop-up- but strong toddlers will pull some of the pieces off.

Final verdict: A delightful exploration of the family-style farm, this book is lovely fun for young readers. With flaps to turn on each page, bright and lovely illustrations, super-cool pop-ups of animals and great animal sounds and a female farmer, this book is perfect for older infants and toddlers. Highly recommend for all young readers to interactively enjoy with their parents.
