Hop into the world of Peter Rabbit and his friends in this charming board book!

It's a wild, autumn evening and the Rabbit family is on their way to get a pumpkin. The woods are windy and dark, but Peter Rabbit is definitely NOT scared. Not even a little bit. But on their walk, there are scary sights, scary sounds, and maybe even a scary somebody out in the woods. Will the Rabbit family meet some unexpected friends in the woods?

A sweet story about friends, this book has a gentle message about facing up to fears of the dark with a reassuring ending and beautiful illustrations throughout.

A PUMPKIN FOR PETER tells the story of when Peter Rabbit went with his mother and sisters to go pick a pumpkin. In a spooky Halloween fashion, the forest seems particularly dark and scary, but each sound or feeling has an easy explanation. When Peter is getting very frightened, it turns out the figure which crashed into them was just Mr. Bunny and his son, Benjamin, on their way to see the Rabbits with a pumpkin pie. Peter realizes it isn't so scary, and he plans to go pick out his pumpkin another time.

Perfect for Halloween, this sweet board book features the beloved Rabbit family and Beatrix Potter quality images and story line. The illustrations are watercolor-esque and truly lovely, gracing every page. The details make them fun for young children to explore as they listen to the story.

What I loved: The story gets into a bit more of the Halloween spookiness than other young children's books, even though, at the end of the day all is alright. This different type of exploration can be delightful for young children who can get into the Halloween spirit. With lots of friends and family, Peter Rabbit is never alone, and this is also comforting, as Peter learns when the woods don't seem as spooky after he finds friends. The story is captivating and fun to read with plenty of drama and things going on. Paired with the detailed images, this book is fun to share with toddlers and preschoolers, who will enjoy following Peter on his journey.

Final verdict: A great Halloween story for toddlers and preschoolers, A PUMPKIN FOR PETER is a visually lovely book with an intriguing story line. Highly recommend for people looking for a deeper and very lightly spooky Halloween tale with an ultimate message of facing your fears, comfort and friendship.
