Clifford the Big Red Dog
and I have a dog.
My dog is a big red dog."
This is how it all began -- in 1963, Norman Bridwell published his very first Clifford book, and kids have loved Clifford ever since. He's an adorable dog whose well-meaning bumblings have great kid appeal. Clifford is Emily Elizabeth's, and everyone's, favorite big red dog!
This charming jacketed hardcover edition is finally back in print and makes the perfect gift!
What I loved: The word-to-image ratio is perfect for toddlers and young children. The pages turn fairly rapidly, and the text size means this could be a great book for children learning to read as well as for parents who read it aloud. The story is sweet and comical, as Clifford chases- and catches- cars and has a hard time with hide-and-seek since he’s larger than the house he hides behind. The images are colorful and correspond to the text perfectly.
What left me wanting more: Nothing!
Final verdict: CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG is sure to remain a classic for generations to come. Toddlers and children will delight in the amusing story and corresponding illustrations. I highly recommend for young ones.
