Anne of the Island (Anne of Green Gables #3)
Anne of the Island, the third in the Anne of Green Gables series, is the best from the whole series. It is the culmination of all the Gilbert and Anne flirtations and growing love. Lovers of the first two books will rejoice and romance lovers will feel their hearts warm when reading this novel. It will make new readers Anne and Gilbert fans and leave them wishing for more. Luckily the series continues up to eight books!
In my opinion, Anne of the Island is the most romantic book in the entire series. Anne goes to Redmond and she makes new friends. But, soon, love is in the air in both Avonlea and Redmond. A lot of couples get married in this book, and Anne even tries her hand at matchmaking. Anne sometimes feels left out in all of this, for her childhood friends soon marry. Will Anne ever find anyone to love? I suggest you read the book to find out.
Anne is off to college with old friends Stella and Priscilla. The three girls along with their new friend Philippa have four eventful years at Redmond College, filled with ups and downs including several proposals from some very unlikely guys and Anne's personal discoveries about her real parents.
This book drags a little at times, but don't be discouraged! The ending is beautiful and satisfying, and the rest is filled with the kind of warm, funny anecdotes L.M. Montgomery does best. And if you like this one, there's seven others in the series!
