Jackson Greene is riding high. He is officially retired from conning, so Principal Kelsey is (mostly) off his back. His friends have great new projects of their own. And he's been hanging out a lot with Gaby de la Cruz, so he thinks maybe, just maybe, they'll soon have their first kiss. Then Jackson receives a link to a faked security video that seems to show him and the rest of Gang Greene flooding the school gym. The jerks behind the video threaten to pass it to the principal -- unless Jackson steals an advance copy of the school's toughest exam. So Gang Greene reunites for their biggest job yet. To get the test adn clear their names, they'll have to outrun the school's security cameras, outwit a nosy member of the Honor Board, and outmaneuver the blackmailers while setting a trap for them in turn. And as they execute another exciting caper full of twists and turns, they'll prove that sometimes it takes a thief to catch a cheat.

Jackson and his friends are caught on video flooding the school bathrooms-- only they didn't do it! Gaby and Jackson have an alibi that will get them in even worse trouble, so when Rob and Thom offer them a deal-- the video destroyed if they can get a copy of the history exam--they embark on an elaborate scheme to get the test, even though they do not want to cheat themselves. There are all sorts of grudges, kids with mad tech skills, misguided but well meaning security guards and principals and even a little kissing as Jackson and his Gang Green try to stay out of trouble while implicating the students who are actually trying to cheat.
Good Points
After the adventures has in The Great Greene Heist, readers will be interested to see how Jackson will do with his efforts to "reform". It's hard to change gears once people think they know who you are, and Jackson finds that he is still the number one suspect when anything goes wrong at his school. The principal takes every opportunity to haul him into the office, and even his fellow students frequently suspect he is behind incidents even if he is not.
The different types of middle school students are well represented and used in the story, from the school newspaper reporters to the science geeks interested in the robotics challenge. While I have never seen any students as tech savvy as the ones who hang out with Jackson, wanna be hackers will enjoy reading about their escapades with the school surveillance system.
Readers who want romance, middle school drama, and amusing high jinks will enjoy this return to Jackson Greene's middle school but will hopefully not take any hints from the behaviors of the students there!
