Brann never imagined that he would actually get the chance to find out. But suddenly he is hurled back in time to spend the day with his father as a young boy. In this single mystifying day of adventure, Brann discovers that there is more to his dad -- and fate -- than he thought.
Brann is going through a difficult time at home, where his parents are constantly arguing. That is, his mom is arguing; his dad is being his usual infuriatingly passive self.
While trying to get away from it all, Brann builds himself a house out of an enormous set of childhood blocks, climbs inside, and falls asleep. When he wakes up, he and the blocks are in the room of a boy named Kevin. It's during the Depression, and Kevin will grow up to be Brann's father.
In the day he spends with Kevin and his family, Brann learns more about what makes the father the way he is, but also manages to teach Kevin a few lessons. Both insights will come in handy-- assuming Brann can ever get back to the present day!
