In the book "I am Morgan le Fay", you get to see her side of the story.

As a young child her father dies at battle - not a coincidence as you soon see. The day her father died she found a little blue stone. It was perfectly smooth, with dark veins coursing through it, and a small hole in it's center. The stone was warm, even in the freezing weather. Little Morgan held on to it, and that very stone, she soon discovered, was linked directly to her fate, and her destiny.
