The adventures continue for Laura Ingalls and her family as they leave their little house in the Big Woods of Wisconsin and set out for Kansas. They travel for many days in their covered wagon until they find the best spot to build their little house on the prairie. Soon they are planting and plowing, hunting wild ducks and turkeys, and gathering grass for their cows. Sometimes pioneer life is hard, but Laura and her folks are always busy and happy in their new little house.

When I was younger, I read my copy of this book until the cover was worn and the pages were falling out. In the second book of the Little House series, Pa Ingalls decides it is time to move his family from the Big Woods and head west.

Little House on the Prairie follows the Ingalls family on their journey through the Wisconsin to Kansas. The story paints a picture of a pioneer family traveling by covered wagon and finding a place to make a new home. Their life wasn't always easy but the Ingalls family faced whatever challenges that came their way and trusted that their faith would help them through.

If you are looking for a classic story that will grow with your children, add this book and the rest of the Little House series to your collection.

I read and re-read these books constantly as a little girl. There's a magic to the story, the historical details that paint a vivid picture of a different time, and the relationship between Laura and her family that just transport the reader. Highly recommend the entire series.
