Woof Club: No Dogs Ever
Then Samantha makes some new friends who have a club: The Woof! Club. In order to make friends with them, Sam tells them she loves dogs and that she's going to get one.
That's a blatant lie, of course, until Sam meets a dog that changes her mind. In fact, when the dog gets hurt, Sam and her mother take it to the vet. It's a great scene in the book, where Sam is surprised at how capable her mother is. She gets an even bigger surprise later when Sam decides she does want to adopt the dog and finds that her mother has a few tricks up her sleeve.
This is a nice little book with some good messages. Along with a sweet little story, you see how Samantha feels about lying and responsibility. And, everything turns out good in the end.
Great for ages 7 and up, especially girls. If you like this one, check out the other books in the series.
