Fans of Sandra Boynton are sure to love this original version of the Going to Bed book on its 36th year anniversary. The familiar style of illustration stands the test of time for being fun and engaging. The expression on some of the characters’ faces as well as the silly pictures make it more fun than just the words. The text has rhyming sentences and phrasing just right to set a gentle tone. This is a great book to add to a bedtime routine followed by a little rocking at the end to pantomime the boat that is also rocking on the waves to put the animals to sleep. As a bonus, there is an added song with music that might be fun for the musically inclined to try out.
