Sleepover at the GrandBAAs
Oswald’s illustrations are very clever; the blow dried sheep is fantastic! The picture of Sheepy in his grandmother pink, handknitted bunny suit is hysterical. There are lots of fun things in the picture details as well, like Goodnight Moooo’n and Grandpa’s potato collection with little flags from other countried. I was a little distracted by the sheep’s faces, but if Marc Brown’s Arthur can have an aardvark without the long snout, I think Sheepy is fine.
Grandparents often host a child’s first sleepover, so this is a great companion to Dewdney’s Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa, or Averiss’ Sorrel and the Sleepover. There are a growing number of books about children and grandparents spending the day together, like Toht’s fantastic Together with You, so this is a great choice for several different content areas.
