delightful, interactive board book

MAKE TRACKS: TRUCKS is an interactive board book that teaches about trucks! The book features information about 4 different types of trucks: a semitruck, car carrier, monster truck, and garbage truck. One side of each page spread labels the different parts of the trucks. The other side has an interactive path for children to slide that vehicle around with questions that guide them to accomplish tasks, such as taking the truck to a specific location, or to encourage learning, such as counting a certain type of object.

What I loved: This is a simple concept and will be a hit with vehicle lovers! The book teaches a little about truck parts for specific vehicles and has learning opportunities with counting objects and coordinating movements around the page. Colorful illustrations with plenty of detail allow children to interact and create their own stories on the page. The clever concepts of the tracks that allow the trucks to move around the page is one that little ones can really get into!

The trucks are well-placed in the tracks and do not come out, which is great to keep the book in one piece. Finger movements to push the trucks around the tracks help with coordination and motor skills. The questions along the way are great to keep little ones engaged. Due to the movements and questions, this will work best for older toddlers and preschoolers, though early elementary school aged readers can get into it as well!

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the trucks can sometimes get stuck in corners of the paths, which can be frustrating for some readers. The way that they are cut also leaves little edges on some parts that can feel a bit rough on fingers.

Final verdict: Overall, MAKE TRACKS: TRUCKS is a delightful, interactive board book that helps children explore vehicles and play as they learn. Recommend for older toddlers through young elementary school aged readers who love things that move!
