Not my favorite of the series, but a good and important one to Arthur's story.

This is where Arthur really starts to struggle with the possibility of becoming a Denizen. It's hard to watch him trying to do everything. He's fighting to keep himself human and maybe live a normal life with his family again, but he also feels the heavy burden of saving the House (along with the rest of the universe). I can't imagine what it would be like to choose between the only life I know and an eternity with the heartache of remembering all I lost.

Arthur even has to go through a washing between the ears in this one, so that's really interesting to read about. Though it occurs to me it's never explained why this happens (the washing in general, not Arthur's in particular.)

A good book overall. In fact, I think it's the one I remembered the most of from my previous reading of the series.

Author's adventure continues....even if he would rather just go home & be normal. As Author searches for the 4th key back home a skinlessboy has taken his place (flashes back to the pod people). Authors friend Leaf is in search of the bit of magic that gives the skinlessboy it's power. Another story packed full of adventure, another must read!

Arthur Penhaligon tries to go back to his Secondary Realm, but he can't. He is stuck in the House. The skinless boy takes over his position on Earth. Leaf, his friend, who came with him to the Border Sea, but was captured by Rats, could escape. It is her mission to go to Earth and get rid of the Skinless Boy. But what would the price be? Meanwhile, Sir Thursday drafts Arthur. Sir Thursday was allowed to do that, because everyone in the House has to serve long years in military. According to the Will, had not Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday done their years of service, they would have been drafted too. Suzy offers to accompany him, but people can't just volunteer. This has about the same concept of the other books. Will Arthur get the key? Will he defeat Sir Thursday? Will he ever get back to Earth, and will Leaf help? It's all in this extraordinary book. :D

This is a great addition to the keys to the kingdom series. There is way to much going on to explain it all. It told thorough alternating points of view, between Arthur and Leaf. Arthur has to fight against Sir Thursday and he is the meanest of them all. Arthur gets through with key wit and fun. Greatly written. And a sci-fi adventure that will last a long time.
This book delves deeper into the house, and the secrets it has. It shows you how great Garth Nix truly is.
