Learning Value
It isn't often that I come across a biography written for children that isn't written above their heads or one that doesn't give much information about the person. In Kathleen Krull's book about Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets, she gives great background about Jim as a young child growing up. I think including this background information makes this relatable to the audience. I think many children will be able to find something in common with the young Jim Henson.

I enjoyed reading about how one of my favorite shows as a child, Sesame Street, was developed. The book also shares others projects that Jim Henson was a part of. I learned a lot about Mr. Henson while reading this biography. Did you know that he helped with the creation of Yoda? With the recent release of The Muppet Movie, I think this is great time to share this book with your children. I would recommend this book for upper elementary students, as there is a lot of reading to it. If you have a child or student in your classroom interested in non-fiction books, add this to your library.
Good Points
This book had a lot of great information about Jim Henson in a kid friendly way.
