I thought this book was great because it wasn't like so many of the happy ever after abridged versions of cinderella. It bringsawhoel new menaing to the name cinder-ella. In total Maragret Peterson Haddix style this novel tells the story of an intelligent woman who niavely mistakes a fling for love. She is entranced by the glamorous and seemingly graceful prince but when she becomes engaged to him she realizes that not all fairytales are what they seem. This Ella isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes and is empowering to girls. SHe plans her escape and doesn't hesitate to get down and dirty literally! After I read this novel I could't help but laugh because the author managed to make every aspect that is told in the original story not what it seemed. The important things in the fairy tale like the prince fitting the glass shoe is somewhat trivial. Overall, I would definitely say read this book.
This book shows how life was for cinderella after her big beautiful wedding. The honeymoons over. This book got me thinking more about how people think some lives are perfect and if thy really are what they seem. You will like this book a lot.
This is a different version of the fairytale Cinderella. There is no fairy godmother, no magic, just the tale of girl that just gets into a huge mess by herself. But Ella is stronger than Cinderella. Ella does not like the life in the palace and she realizes something very important regarding love. Read the book to find out what happens.
I thought this book was funny and thought it was very funny.
I thought that telling the real story of what happened to Cinderella was a very good idea, but this version of it didn't really inspire me. To some people this book is prbably great, but to me it was boring. This book is definately for kids on the younger side, like ten or eleven. But being a very mature thirteen-year old, I didn't like it.
I prefer Mageret Peterson Haddix's Just Ella rather than Ella Enchanted because Just Ella is more realistic. All the while you're thinking-ah-that could have happened. That could have been the secret behind the fairy-tale Cinderella. In this book Cinderella has guts, courage and lots of drama.
After fantising about Prince Charming for so long, Ella realises she posesses no feelings for him. He is dull and doesn't care for his subjects. But how can Ella escape from the clutches of the castle and the eye of her her evil mother-in-law when there is a war waging outside? And why she feel so much more comfortable with her tutor rather than her soon-to-be-husband?
Discover what really happened Cinderella and if the story really eneded happily ever after.
A throughly enchanting read! Just Ella will blow you away.
Meet Ella, a hard working woman, living with her cruel stepmother and sisters. After the Princes Grand Ball, Ella finds herself engaged to his Royal Highness, young Charming. Now, Ella must survive the rules and restrictions of a palace life. Will our hardworking, rag wearing, Ella be able to coup with a pampered young Prince? Or will she escape from his Royal grasp?
Just Ella is a good book to curl up in a chair, and read just before bed. This story relates to that of Cinderella, but is far more interesting than a childs Fairy Tale. It is a tale of truth, lies, love, betrayal, and most of all freedom. This book is a must read for teenagers, because it holds most of their interests.
Just Ella is the worst book I have ever read. And that's saying something because I have read many books. This book is the non-happily ever after of Cinderella. She gets poisoned, prisoned, has to dig her way out from the toilet, forced to eat gruel, steals, and is being hunted down. Now, tell me that that is the loving Cinderella we all know and love? It is NOT a good book at all.
to tell you the truth, I just thought this book would be another boring Cinderella with a few words changed. But this story was wonderful, it was fun to read and then, later ponder.
Ella, once a maid, now a princess lives in the castle and is learning how to be a princess not only in name but in characteristics, when she begins to wonder. Does she really love the prince? Is all this trouble worth a guy who loves himself more than his own mother? Read and observe her decisions!
A book with a Cinderella-like plot but several twists!
