I really enjoyed reading "Enchanted." It is a fairytale that mixes courage, determination, love, hope, and a bit of that fairytale magic into the plot. It is humorous and was fun to read!
A little bit after Ella was born, she was granted a wish. It was intended to be good, at least the wish giver thought it would, but the gift turned out to give Ella a lot of troubles. You see, the gift was of making Ella do whatever she was told. Now, Ella finds out she needs to figure out a way to break the spell. Will she be able to find out in time? Or will it be to late? Find out in this wonderful story!
Right after she was born, Ella of Frell was given a gift/curse of being obedient from Lucinda, a fairy whose "gifts" were well meant but often went awry. With help from her fairy godmother, Mandy, and her friends, Areida and Char, Ella tries to break the curse in a series of events that are witty, funny, and altogether enjoyable! A retelling of the Disney classic Cinderella, Gail Carson Levine's Ella Enchanted is a truly spellbinding tale that will capture the hearts of readers of all ages.
Have you read this book? If you answered no, get off your chair and walk straight to the nearest bookstore and BUY it!!!
Why? This book is awesome! Who ever thought that obedience could turn into a never-ending curse? Who ever thought that there could be MORE mean stepmothers and stepsisters? Who ever thought that there would be such things as friendly elves, and fun giants?
Gail Levine tells of an extraordinary journey, starting just like any 'ole fairy tale. I congratulate the author on such a fine job!
This book was just wonderful. It was full of excitement and always kept you wondering what was going to happen next. This book was one that I sometimes pick up and just spend an afternoon reading becuase it takes you into its own little world of fantasy and wonder. I recomend this book to anyone who looks a true fairtale!
I've read this book when I was in sixth grade and I've re-read it over and over again. Thank god that there was a movie made based on this film because it is such a wonderful book. Cinderella type books are always my favorite and this one is the best. This book can be read by anybody and should be read by everybody. A wonderful delight for all.
This book it a mixture of pretty much all the fairtales out there. It is a great read. The characters aren't your typical fairtale make. The book is different, but exiciting and funny. I enjoyed it a lot.
In this twist on Cinderella, Ella was put under a curse a birth that makes her always obedient. No matter what the command is, she must obey it. Now her mother has just died, and her father is marrying the odious Dame Olga, and sending Ella away to finishing school, despite prostests from both her and Prince Charmont, whom she befriended at the funeral, that she doesn't need to be "finished." The other girls at school makes life horrible for her there, so she runs away. At home, Dame Olga and her new stepsisters, Hattie and Olive, never tire of ordering Ella about, since her father is away on business, and Ella must live as a servant in her own house. But unless the curse is broken, there is nothing she can do about it. I have enjoyed this book for over seven years. It is completely wonderful and timeless.
An altered version of the classic Cinderella fairy-tale, Ella Enchanted is a marvelous book! Filled with well-written characters, places, and a good drawn-out timeline of her life, this is a must-read book for everyone! I have read this book so many times that the crease on the side is enormous!! I love how it really digs into her emotions, as well as how she deals with each situation and the "gift" that has been given to her. I have seen the movie version of this book, and although it is a good movie and is accurate in certain parts, it seems that they are two entirely different things. I highly recommend reading the book if you have only just seen the movie, because it is SOO much better, and I promise! You won't be dissapointed.
this is no ordinary fairytale.
yes it has all the familar elements:loveable female lead, ugly step sisters, a fairy god mother and a prince charming.
yet even as it is told in true cinderella style it has a modern feel to it. no it doesn't take place in today's world and you proberbly can't find magic glass slippers in reality, but the writer expresses real emotions that fairytales lack. emotions that the reader can relate to .
my fav part of this book was the ending, but i won't give it away. it was definitly one of my fav books i read this year.
