What I loved: The brightly colored illustrations demonstrate these simple concepts for visual learners. The neon color choices and cute cartoonish children hold appeal for the youngest of readers. The book captures the simple descriptions well and finishes with the lesson in that the narrator has more to give now that he likes to share. The children are emotive, and the frowns on the pages of what he used to do are juxtaposed with smiling children in the pages with sharing to help drive the message home.
The board book reads really quickly with brief sentences on each page and relatively few pages. This will work best for young toddlers.
What left me wanting more: Not all the examples are about sharing, but more about being kind and cooperative to build friendships. I would have appreciated a bit more text to explain to young children about the concepts and why they matter.
Final verdict: I LIKE TO SHARE! is a brightly colored board book about kindness and friendship, bringing that start of a simple concept to the youngest of readers.
