What I loved: The illustrations throughout the book are lovely, soft, and detailed, capturing the story so beautifully. Every page brings Anita's world to life. The story is flowingly told with all the imagination of Anita and the truths of the world she is leaving behind and her fears over going to a new place. The feelings that the book captures feel very genuine and real. This would be a great book for classroom lessons on immigration, to help begin discussions over the experience, and/or for learning and discussion at home. The imaginative story of dragons and journeys adds to the overall feel of the book in a lovely way.
Final verdict: ANITA AND THE DRAGONS is a lovely picture book about courage and immigration, imaginatively told with beautiful illustrations.
