What worked: Engaging historical set during WWII. What interested me the most of this novel is how codes were used by the resistance. In this case it's twelve-year-old Meg Kenyon love of coding games with her father that helps her crack an important message that will lead her to her captured father.

Great pacing, dialogue, and descriptions of Nazi occupied France in 1942. Meg is determined and loves to crack codes. When her British father leaves two years previously, he leaves behind a jar filled of codes to crack. Her knowledge of how to decode messages will help her not only on a journey to help some people fleeing the Nazis, but help her find her father. The codes are broken down so readers can see how they're done. Added bonus at the end of the story is a glossary of different coding methods and ways to make your own.

Readers follow Meg as she tries to crack a message left by her father. She'll encounter resistance fighters, Nazi officers, and someone who isn't all they seem to be.

Fast-paced, captivating historial novel where a young French girl's love of coding helps her not only find her missing father, but help others fleeing the Nazis during WWII. Totally recommend.
Good Points
1. Engaging historical set during WWII
2. Added bonus-how to make your own secret codes at back of the book
