FUN IN THE JUNGLE is an adorable board book great for infants and young toddlers who are exploring the world through touch. Each page spread has a simple sentence, followed by an invitation to touch a textured item, and a question about the touchable item. The length is perfect for the youngest of readers, and the bright and cartoonish illustrations provide plenty of visual interest.

What I loved: The illustrations are really delightful with adorable animals doing all sorts of cute things throughout. The bright colors will appeal to young readers. The font is nice and large, and the length of text is perfect for the shortest attention spans. The pages are nice and thick, making them easy for young fingers to turn. With the touchable items, young children can interact with the book, which is great for beginning readers. The favorite in our house is the bumpy leaf which lion hides under to get out of the rain that feels so fun to touch, and a close second is the soft and fuzzy cloud.

What left me wanting more: As a very small thing, the questions come after the invitation to touch and many of them are visual observations such as shiny or glittery. It would have been great to have them relate to the feeling of the item they touched to help make the connection between textures and the terms for each texture.

Final verdict: With fun and colorful illustrations plus fun textures to explore, FUN IN THE JUNGLE is a great book for infants and young toddlers to explore and spark an early love of books.
