BAD BROWS is a humorous picture book that follows Bernard when he wakes up for a day with brows that won't behave. Bernard had never really thought much about his eyebrows before, but when they start to misbehave and do wacky things, he realizes how important they are to his expressions. The book is full of colorful illustrations with cartoonish scenes of the brows acting wild.
What I loved: This book is funny and will definitely make kids laugh. The scenes with the brows are a little wild, but this makes it humorous. The overall message about what eyebrows do for us is cute and illustrates how we use them to express our feelings. The illustrations are full of fun and take the brows in unique directions that use a lot of imagination. I also appreciated the diversity of characters; for instance how Bernard seems to be bi-racial, with his parents having different skin tones and the principal of the school being Black.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, I am not fond of equating misbehaving with bad, as children may do some of the things the brows do (act silly in photos, spill other's ice cream, or make a mess), but this does not mean they are bad.
Final verdict: A silly book, BAD BROWS is a humorous picture book about the importance of eyebrows. Elementary school-aged readers will laugh at this imaginative story.
