TWINKLE, TWINKLE, LITTLE STAR is a large collection of nursery rhymes and lullabies. The book features one or two rhymes with an accompanying illustration on each page. It includes many I was already familiar with, such as the title song, Rock-a-Bye, Baby, Hush, Little Baby, Jack Be Nimble, and others. It also includes some of which I have never heard before.
What I loved: This is a fun collection that young children will enjoy, especially when sung. The illustrations are cartoonish and full of bright colors, which also holds appeal. The font is clear, and so it is easy to read.
What left me wanting more: As a small point, I was not expecting religious tones to some of the rhymes, which talk about praying, angels, God, and Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are subtly religious, but may be a surprise to some caregivers who may not be Christian (though praying could be more universal of a concept).
Final verdict: Overall, this is a fun collection of rhymes and songs, accompanied by whimsically delightful and brightly colored illustrations. Children will enjoy singing along with their parents as they work their way through the book.
