TEN LITTLE FARM FRIENDS is a fun, rhyming counting book. Ten baby farm animals are journeying around the farm. Each baby animal leaves when they find their mommy animal until we are left with just one- the rooster. The book ends with him calling to all his friends.
The book features cut-outs through to each animal as it counts from 10 down to 1. The illustrations have lot of bright colors and fun scenery around the farm.
What I loved: This is a great way to talk about numbers, and children can help count the number of animals left on each page. The text is rhyming, which makes it fun to read aloud. It is also really fun to feature 10 different animals, which brings more animal fun. The illustrations are full of bright colors and farm scenery, which will definitely appeal to young children. Together with the cut-outs, it's a fun book to move through.
What left me wanting more: As a minor point, it would have been nice to mix in some father animals with the mothers. The pages are also geared towards older children, as it is a paperback book so with the cut-outs, they are a little easier for eager toddlers to tear. They are also more difficult (vs. board books) for young children to turn on their own. These make the book geared towards preschoolers/older toddlers.
Final verdict: A colorful counting book with farm animals, this delightful read will help children learn to count with rhyming fun.
