THE HAPPY, SNAPPY CRAB is a charming adventure through the sea. The board book features pop-up sea animals on every page. Turtles who race, a shark whose teeth shine bright, a puffer fish who blows up when he feels grumpy, and an octopus who tickles feature in this charming book.

What I loved: The text is a pleasure to read, as the rhyming phrases and alliteration (e.g. "clever crimson crab") rolls off the tongue. The fond is clear and large enough to read from a good reading distance. The text really captures young imaginations, and toddlers will definitely enjoy exploring these many sea animals.

The colorful and fun illustrations will really steal the show, along with the fun pop-ups. The pages are thick and easy for little fingers to turn with the gaps from the pop-ups. The pop-ups are pretty sturdy, which can make them harder for older infants and young toddlers to rip off. If they do, another great feature is the duplicated image underneath the pop-up that keeps the book still functional even if the pop-ups are removed.

This story is really delightful, and the favorite in our house is the whale who makes a mighty splash when he comes up for air, with a seal, penguins, and seagull all around. The images really suit the story perfectly, and the pop-ups are done really well.

Final verdict: Completely charming and delightful for parents and toddlers alike, this pop-up board book is a definite winner. Highly recommend for anyone who loves rhyming phrases, cute and colorful illustrations, and pop-up fun!
