What I loved: The plot is simple and full of fun animal sounds that will very much appeal to the young toddler audience. The pop-ups are very cool with the animals really coming off the page. They are also made of a sturdy cardstock like paper that makes them fairly durable. The colors are beautiful and there are plenty of flowers and bright colors on each page which bring a lot of appeal. I also super-love that the book features a female farmer on a tractor- always great to see women in careers frequently shown with males. With the many animals and animal sounds plus the repetitive cock-a-doodle-doo, toddlers will adore turning the pages. Also, the flaps are very sturdy (and will hold up to the tougher toddlers) with a peekaboo style that has additional high appeal for the young age group.
What left me wanting more: As a minor point, if you have a rough toddler, some of the pop-ups are not very well attached, especially the pig with the mud splashing- an undeniably very cool and involved pop-up- but strong toddlers will pull some of the pieces off.
Final verdict: A delightful exploration of the family-style farm, this book is lovely fun for young readers. With flaps to turn on each page, bright and lovely illustrations, super-cool pop-ups of animals and great animal sounds and a female farmer, this book is perfect for older infants and toddlers. Highly recommend for all young readers to interactively enjoy with their parents.
