The pacing and simplistic words in the set ANIMAL STORIES (BOB BOOKS) is just what the emerging reader needs. The words are mostly one-syllable and there's a lot of repetition to help the child retain the information. Consonant blends are also introduced in these books.

The characters are all animals, which help engage the child. The pictures are also simplistic so they don't get distracted from the words. Each book contains a full story that will bring satisfaction at the end. I love how there are "Words to Learn" inside the front cover because it gives you an idea what to expect and focus on before you begin reading. The consistency of the writing style reinforces the child's ability to learn the words.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this set to all emerging readers. Whether they're struggling or just starting, this set will help them stay focused and learn new words as they go along.
