HOW DO I LOVE THEE? features a beautiful poem and lovely illustrations in a celebration of love between friends and between parent and child. Beginning with the premise of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s SONNET 43, this book counts the many ways of love in an absolutely delightful way.

What I loved: The illustrations and text are perfectly matched and altogether just beautiful. This is a fantastic read even for the youngest toddlers who will enjoy the relatively short phrases and concordance between text and images. The diversity amongst the children pictured is also fantastic and only strengthens enthusiasm for this lovely book. My favorite pages are “I love thee by stars and by firelight” and “[by] winter’s frost-etched breath,” though they are all gorgeous that it is hard to choose.

Final verdict: This is a fantastic book to share with little ones, young and older toddlers who will delight in the beautiful images and lovely phrasing. As the pages turn quickly, be prepared to read this gorgeous book over and over again.
