The Step Into Reading Series is one of my favorite for children learning how to read. One reason is that I think the levels are appropriately marked for each stage. Pretty Penny Comes Up Short is a Step 3 book which makes it most appropriate for children who are beginning to read independently, have a basic knowledge of sight words, and have some decoding skills.

Pretty Penny is a sweet girl who wants to help Doodle's Animal Farm. She even teaches Iggy the pig about honesty and what it means to help others. This is a great addition to your early reader collection.
