This book is coming out at the perfect time! Politics are what most people are talking about right now, and this book puts a fun light on American Politics for kids. However, adults will enjoy it, too. My 6 year old is curious about politics right now, and this book just makes it a bit more fun to talk about.

I love the simplicity of the pictures as well. And of course they are all in red, white and blue. What else would they be? I think this book is a great introduction to politics. It shows the good and the ugly sides to politics, put very simply for kids to understand.

The characters are Donkey and Elephant (get it?) and they want you to vote for them! Not only do they plead their cases as to why they are the best candidates (including a promise of suckers and peanuts), but they tell why the other person isn't the right choice. Names are thrown, egos are hurt, and apologies are given. I love that the author, Ben Clanton, puts an apology in there from both parties. I think that's really important! Who will win the election? You'll just have to read the book to find out!
