The story of Laura's family continues as they make their home in a little sod house. I loved reading about this little house and how Laura and her family made this tiny space their temporary home. As a child, I remember loving to read about how parts of the ceiling (which was dirt) would fall in and they would have to repair it. It's the little details like this that make the story so enjoyable and personal. As the story continues, Pa Ingalls builds a house with real glass windows. Laura and Mary also attend school and make new friends. We see how the Ingalls family begins to make this little spot on a great big prairie their home.
I hope if you have not already, you will introduce this series to the children in your home. This is an enjoyable book and tells a great story about the pioneer times in our history.
