The Thief Lord is written by Cornelia Funke and is definitely one of her best books. I read this book over the summer and could not put it down. It has a very intriguing plot that is not only mysterious but also very clever. It has won many awards including New York Times Bestseller, USA Today Bestseller, Book Sense Book of the Year Award, School Library Journal Best Book of the Year, and is a winner of the Mildred L. Batchelder Award.

This book is about two young brothers named Prosper and Bo who run away from their horrid aunt and end up in Venice Italy. They are forced to fend for themselves living on the streets. They begin to worry about their own survival and are in greatly need of help when the Thief Lord shows up and gives them an offer they can't refuse. Prosper and Bo ends up joining the Thief Lord and his gang of street children who tend to get into a lot of trouble.

The Thief Lord gets his name from the fact that he steals so that the others can survive. He is very mysterious and the gang doesn't know as much as they think they do about him. He has a truly dark secret that if ever found out would change everyone's lives including Prosper and Bo's.

This story is filled with adventure and fantasy. It is also now a movie that I would love to see. It is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite author's and I completely adored reading it. I hope if you ever get the chance to read this book you will find it as amazing as I did.
