Review Detail
In this bouncy rhyming bedtime story, it's time for all the small letters to say night-night. But, alas! As the upper case letters (the parents) find out, it's not that easy.
Uh-oh! a is wide awake.
And b has a bath to take.
On we go, though the alphabet with all the little letters enjoying their baths, or wiggling and giggling, or being rambunctious ("h tries standing on her head"), struggling with moods, and much more. Kids will love that "o and p upset the potty," and they'll get a kick out of "u takes off his underwear" (accompanied by a hilarious illustration of a lower-case u tossing polka-dotted u-shaped undies into the air while his upper-case parent looks on, googly-eyed). Some of the little letters have mellow reactions to bedtime, too, such as expecting hugs or wanting to cuddle. And it all ends with little z snoring Zzzzz, and the promise of seeing all the little letters in the morning.
Readers will appreciate the quick, lilting couplets and the witty illustrations, while the read-to will also relate to the anti-bedtime shenanigans, as well as the final, cozy settling in.
