Barbara Ensor has created an engaging retelling of the classic Cinderella fairy tale in a lovely package. Peppered with letters written by Cinderella to her mother, whos no longer around to smooth Cinderellas sheets and give her a cup of warm milk, the text is also enhanced by charming black and white pictures. Readers can actually measure their own foot against an actual size picture of the famous slipper (I know I did).
What makes this story different is the extension beyond the typical The End. Cinderella and her prince work hard to grow their love as they grow into their own personalities. We learn of our transformed heroine that no one is her boss.
This fairy tale is just right for girls who are ready for a chapter book with a little bit of romance.
