I'll admit that this book has possibly everything that would make a great and thrilling fantasy book. Dragons, legends, magic, swordfights, elves, and a young hero coming to terms with his new journey. Yet somehow while I read this book everything seemed a little contrived. I felt I knew what was going to happen and there was little that was unpredictable. Somehow even though it has the right elements the book was lacking in my opinion. I thought it was interesting if for anything else to waste time. It ends abruptly forcing you to read the next one if you want to see what happens. Yet after reading a rather disappointing book I don't think I'll read the next one.

Eragon does copy from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. The names are copied and so is much of the plot. I think that's reeeeeaaaaaaaaallllly wrong, but I guess some of the writing is O.K. At least the style of writing is different. It's not tooooo bad. Some of the ideas and details are nice but the author really shouldn't have copied other people's ideas.
