I had a really, really hard time getting through this book. In fact,
after the first 1/4 of it I was tempted to put it down and stop
reading.  This series as a whole so far has been filled with ups and
downs.  Book 1 was just ok to me and book 2 was a lot better.  I will
say that the last 40 or so pages of Chosen was great and made me glad I
kept reading and now I am kicking myself for having left book 4,
Untamed, at home.  Zoeys boyfriend problems are pretty much her own
fault and while she seems to realize her behavior is horrible she
doesnt do much to stop it.  I have to admit at this point Im actually
preferring Aphrodite over Zoey now that Aphrodite seems to be making a
change for the better.

Stop here because this will be a total spoiler for those who havent
read this book.

.

So I thought Loren was totally hot and thought there was something
suspicious about his interest in Zoey.  It totally suck that he died
and I kind of suspect that instead of the religious nuts being the
killers its actually Neferet.  I think this was her excuse for going
to war on humans and I think she killed Loren because she was ticked
off he imprinted with Zoey.

Let me get some of the bad things out of the way right away. Zoey's non-cussing is becoming more of in issue therefore more annoying. Yes we get you don't like to cuss Zoey but MUST you say poopy? Or even worse "bull poop"?! I also wished that Zoey would realize that Stevie Rae wasn't the same anymore. There is a whole bunch of action in Chosen, more then any other of the books so far. All of Zoey's relationships are put to the test, too bad for her, she fails. But in the end I believe that Zoey grew as a person and is now able to start fresh by being truthful to her friends on NOT having three boyfriends. I hope she gets back with Heath, their relationship had more history and depth. Ohh my favorite character though would have to be Jack. Almost everything he does is adorable. I wanna give him a hug! Which makes me remember that all of the characters have pretty awesome personalities. Overall I think that Chosen was an event filled book that kept me turning the pages.

Chosen tells the story of Zoey Redbird, a vampire fledgling at the house of night. Things seem to be going great at the beginning- she is the leader of the Dark Daughters, her friends are the best any girl could ask for, and her hunky boyfriend is genuinly the sweetest most thoughtful guy in the universe. But then things get bad. Zoey has to try and fend off her recurring blood lust with her old boyfriend Heath while convincing Erik that she loves only him while struggling to hold back some unwanted sensual tension with her proffessor Loren. Not to mention try to figure out why Neferet seems to be acting weird and dealing with her best friend dying and trying to figure out if her eyesight is going because she keeps seeing dead kids walking around the grounds of House of Night. Oh and did I mention she has all the affinities and a strong connection with the goddess Nyx? So yeah, looks like Zoey's plate is full this year. This book is amazing! Competes strongly with all other vampire books I have ever read and that's saying something. It has humor, lust, love, friendship, action, suspense, western- you name it! It also deals with the prejeduces that people have based on religion, appearance, sexual orientation and much more. Everyone needs to read the House of Night series.

I really do believe that the series is going at a really slow pace. It's already the third book and Zoey has only been at the House of Night for two months. She's only a third former, and there's still two to three more years. In this third book, Zoey seems to have become more like a child than she was in the first two. She makes crappy decisions. She loses sight of her own virtues that were so highly stressed before. She even loses her virginity at the age of 16, after making it clear to her boyfriend that she wasnt ready only to be seduced by an older man. Although you come to learn that he was using her and must have some emotional attachment, the bottom line is that Zoey Redbird is not living up to the heroine that she's supposed to be. Maybe the Cast team will redeem themselves for me in their next book, Untamed.

As Zoey Redbird learns more of her Goddess-given powers, dark forces are at work at the House of Night. Those appearing to be friends are turning out to be enemies. However, enemies are also turning out to be friends. Or at least familiar acquaintances. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is an undead and is struggling to maintain a grip in her humanity. Because if she loses it, she will become one of the others, forever lost and killing for blood. Zoey does not know how to help her but is determined to save her best friend. She does know, however, that anything she and Stevie discover must be kept a secret from everyone else because trust has become a rare commodity. Zoey also manages to find herself with not only one, but three boyfriends. When things could not get any more difficult, vampyres are turning up dead. As in, really really dead. All evidence point to the People of Faith, specifically Zoeys step-father, who are already tired of living side by side with vampyres, the creatures of evil. But as Zoey and her friends find out that things rarely reflect the truth. This book is very interesting but somehow manages to portray Zoeys friends are shallow beings. Even though it has a lot of action, there are some scenes where Zoey looks like an extreme slut.

Zoey Redbird has gone through very much in the last few months. First she was Marked with a sign from the goddess Nyx. She was graced with powers unheard of in a third year fledgling. Not only does she have an affinity for all of the five elements, but her mark is unusual, too it is filled in completely, which only happens to adult vampyres. She also Imprinted with her human on again, off again boyfriend, giving her a strange and strong lust for his blood.

Then, Zoey was Betrayed. The goddess had warned her not all things that seem evil are evil, and not all good things are good. Those whom she trusted the most plotted against her, while her enemy became her alibi.

And now, she is Chosen. Faced with a huge load of responsibility, Zoey wants to turn to her friends for support. But how can they understand what she is going through? Shes Imprinted with her human (sometimes ex) boyfriend, she is in a relationship with the extremely hot Erik Night, and she definitely has feelings for her teacher (and he definitely has feelings back!). Not only that, but she struggles to help her undead best friend Stevie Rae from turning into a monster, while there are monsters slaughtering adult vampyres. So what is a girl expected to do?

P.C. and Kristen Cast have exceeded expectations again! Their newest installment in the House of Night series is even better than the first two novels. I would have liked to see a little more character development in the plot, but for the most part the characters were as good as ever.

Chosen is the third novel in the House of Night Novel series.

Zoey has more on her plate then ever. She is still dealing with the fact that her best friend is dead. Well she is actually undead, she is more or less alive, but just without her soul. Shes is juggling not one, but three boyfriends, and Neferet is still looming in the Shadows.

Zoey feels more alone then ever because she cant confide in her friends about Stevie Rae. She cant confide in anyone, except for the last person she thought she would ever trust, Aphrodite. This alone would be enough to stress to last a lifetime, but then Zoey and Aphrodite find a vampyre professor of the House of Night decapitated and staked to a cross. Zoey thinks that her family, or more specially her step-dad may have been involved.

I couldnt put this book down! Poor Zoey! I wish that she would catch a break. It seems like whatever she does, just doesnt work out for her at all! I was glad how things ended up with Stevie Rae, but I actually felt bad for Aphrodite, even though she isnt really the nicest person. I could definitely see the romance writing style of P.C. Cast shining through on this one! Lets just say there are some lovely intimate scenes, if you will! All I have to say is it's about time her and Erik started making out! :) The boy is too cute not to kiss! I am hoping there will be a another book. The ending definitely left the possibility. I cant wait to see what happens to Zoey and her friends next!!! The suspense is killing me!
